New York Mets
New York Mets vs. San Francisco,
Sunday August 26, 2001
San Francisco 5 - New York Mets 6, Win Al Leiter(9-10), Loss Russ Ortiz(14-7), Save Armando Benitez (33)
This trip was our first to NYC at all. We spend a night in the city while enjoying Music Man and experiencing the city for the first time. We didn't take that many photos expecting to see the city again with another trip we had planned just a few weeks later. That trip happened, but after Sept. 11th. There was obviously a stark difference in the city between these two trips. The reason for going to this game was to see Barry Bonds. It seemed that he would be breaking the single season home run record that year and I wanted to see him play. He almost hit a homer, but instead it bounced about 2 feet from the top of the wall ending in a triple. The annoying part of this trip is how the game time was moved. We planned to go sunday afternoon then drive home after the game. Due to Bond's season, ESPN got it moved to night time to air on tv. So we had to stay an additional night, in Queens this time, since the game went late. We then drove back the next day after we woke up. Attending this game was Miranda and myself.
